Spotify Keyboard Shortcuts for Streamers

💡 Overview

Streamers rarely want a music app; they want four actions. Play or pause, next, previous, and a safe pause. You run scenes, chat, alerts and a game at once, and one wrong window click shows up on stream.

Spotify-Web Playback Controller ships with defaults you can remember without a cheat sheet: Shift+Alt+Up toggles play or pause, Shift+Alt+Right goes to the next track, Shift+Alt+Left goes back, and Shift+Alt+Down pauses only. The pause-only key is deliberately one-way, so you never start music by accident when you meant to stop it.

The problem: A mis-click on the wrong tab can expose something you did not mean to show.

The fix: Control playback by hotkey so Spotify never has to appear in a capture or a scene.

🚀 Try It in Three Steps

1. Memorize the arrow-key mapping: Up toggles, Right skips, Left goes back, Down pauses.
2. Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts to review or change any binding.
3. Practise each shortcut a few times until it becomes muscle memory.
